ENGT380 Cooperative Education in Industry

  1. Rationale for course: This course provides an opportunity for students to gain fulltime work experience in industry for an extended period of time between their junior and senior years.  The cooperative education will take place offsite at industrial facilities in partnership with industries.

A co-op program for the engineering technology students is strongly recommended by the program’s Industrial Advisory Board.  Such programs contribute significantly to professional and personal growth of students facilitating their immediate post-graduate employment, in addition to helping Pennsylvania companies recruit and retain engineering talent in the area.

This is a required course for the ABET-accredited Electronics Engineering Technology degree program, supporting the development of students’ ability to select and apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of the discipline to broadly defined engineering technology activities.

2.       Course Description: Provides full-time work experience for the summer semester and the following fall semester in an industrial or research setting to enhance engineering skills in electronics engineering technology.  Requires departmental approval.  This is a required course for EET majors and is offered under Pass/Fail Only basis.
