Program Description

The Applied Computer Science program combines elements of Lock Haven’s existing successful programs with an additional track in Web Development. The Applied Computer Science program will have a common core of classes and the following three tracks.
• Data Science
• Mobile and Game Application Development
• Web Development

The overarching goal of the program is to prepare graduates for entry level positions in these various fields.
The Applied Computer Science degree differs from the ABET Computer Science program by focusing on professional development over the theoretical underpinnings of Computer Science. The existing programs that the degree is based on successfully attracted students not interested in an ABET Computer Science degree. It is vital that both programs are available to attract a wide-variety of students to Commonwealth University.
